Extension of due dates for GST Annual Return and Reconciliation Statement for 2018-19
Finally, the Government has positively reacted to the request of stakeholders for extending due dates for furnishing of GST Annual Return and GST Reconciliation Statements for F.Y. 2018-19. Stakeholders were demanding extension owing to Covid-19 pandemic related lockdown and other restrictions. A press release has been issued on 24th October, 2020 for extension of various due dates under GST. Notifications will be issued shortly.
On the recommendations of GST Council, it has been decided to extend the due date for filing of Annual Return (FORM GSTR-9/9A) and Reconciliation Statement (FORM GSTR-9C) for financial year 2018-19 from 31st October, 2020 to 31st December, 2020.
It may be noted that filing of Annual Return (GSTR-9/9A) is optional for taxpayers having aggregate turnover up to Rs. 2 Crores. Similarly, the filing of GSTR-9C is also optional for the taxpayers having aggregate turnover up to Rs. 5 crores.
